Frequently Asked Questions?

When it comes to an oil change, there is not a “one size fits all” solution.

Our oil change lasts 15,000 miles or 1 year in gasoline vehicles and up to 20,000 miles or 1 year in some diesel vehicles. Obviously this is much longer than a normal 3,000 mile 3 month oil change.

Because of this our price per oil change is higher, but the value to you per mile is comparable to a normal oil change. In addition, you get a much better oil and service that comes to you so you never have to miss a project to get an oil change!

The cost varies based on several other factors as well:

  1. Oil Capacity- All vehicles are different. Some small cars can hold as little as 3 quarts while a diesel pickup can hold up to 15 quarts. From there medium and heavy duty diesel trucks can hold as much as 48 quarts. As you would expect, this affects the price.
  2. 2 wheel drive vs. 4 wheel drive- 4 wheel drive vehicles have a few more items that require inspection than a 2 wheel drive vehicle, so we charge a few extra dollars for them.
  3. Vehicle Duty Rating- Medium and Heavy duty vehicles hold much more oil than passenger vehicles. A single truck may have as much as 100 pounds of oil in the engine. This has to be drained, contained, then moved to our waste oil tank. We do this in steps to keep our technicians safe and prevent lifting injuries. These trucks also have many more grease points which take more time that a passenger vehicle.

Here is the price of a few common light duty vehicles. Your individual vehicle may vary.

  • Chevrolet Express 3500 Van Gasoline V8- 6 quarts- $325
  • 2015-2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3L 4×4- 8 quarts- $379
  • Ford F350 6.7L Diesel 4×4- 13 quarts- $480
  • Ford F150 5.0L 4×4- 8.8 quarts- $395

We ask you to plan for 1 hour so we have a little breathing room in case we hit a snag, but usually we are finished in 30-40 minutes.

Generally ,we do not service personal vehicles, however there are a few exceptions to this rule.

  1. Employees or family of our commercial accounts
  2. RV’s & Motorhomes
  3. Batteries– We are an Interstate Battery dealer and we work with the Interstate Battery stores in the Treasure Valley. If your vehicle has a dead battery we can come to you to replace your battery. Keep in mind, we will schedule battery services as soon as we can get to you, but we do not provide emergency service or jump starts.

Our oil change does cost more up front. Most quick-lube shops cost between $69 and $99 for a full service gasoline pickup or van. That oil change lasts 3,000 miles or 3 months.

Our price for full service oil change is generally between $325 and $379 with a few exceptions. Our oil change lasts 15,000 miles or 1 year.

Think of it this way, our oil change cost 5 times as much, but lasts 5 times as long. So really it costs you the same, BUT you get much better oil, a better filter, and service that doesn’t interrupt your work day!

The simple answer is quality.

Amsoil Signature Series is what the industry calls a Group 4 PAO (PolyAlphaOlefin) Synthetic Oil. In normal people language it means Amsoil is the best-of-the-best. There is not a current technology in the lubricant industry that performs better than Group 4 PAO.

Amsoil doesn’t breakdown like conventional and lesser synthetic oils, so it does not form sludge that can clog-up oil passages in your engine. Because of this, you don’t have to change it as often, lowering your cost of operation. In fact, it lasts up to 5 times longer than conventional oil. Up to 15,000 miles or 1 year in severe service.

What this means to you is better protection for your vehicle AND lower operating cost. Fewer oil changes mean fewer labor bills and much less downtime.

Additionally it is better for the environment. Check out this blog post straight from Amsoil.

If you tried this with conventional oil or a lesser synthetic the answer would be YES!!!

However, if you are using Amsoil Signature Series in a healthy engine, it will protect your engine better after 15,000 miles than a conventional oil will fresh from the bottle. We have a few customers that have us perform lab test every 7,500 miles just to see how far they can go between oil changes. The record so far is over 130,000 miles without an oil change!

This comes down to the composition of crude oil. When crude oil gets pumped out of the ground it has a lot of stuff in it that isn’t oil. The crude oil gets refined in an attempt to isolate the desirable chemicals that will eventually lubricate your engine. Unfortunately, these is no way to refine all of the undesirable particles out of the finished product. These undesirable molecules cause sludge and chemical breakdown of the lubricating oil.

Amsoil synthetic oil is different. Amsoil is 100% synthetic, created in a lab with only desirable lubricating components. This makes Amsoil pure, with nothing in it that the engineers did not put there on purpose. This is why it lasts so long.

If we were using a normal filter the answer would be yes, it would not make it 15,000 miles. But, as you probably guessed, we do not use normal filters. Instead, we use Amsoil’s Ea (Efficiency Absolute) oil filters. These filters last much longer than the typical oil filter. The short answer is no. Your factory warranty is secure when using Amsoil Synthetic lubricants according to Amsoil’s recommendations. Click here for more information straight from Amsoil.

VIN or Vehicle Identification Numbers give us the details we need about that particular vehicle. VIN’s tell us what engine option, transmission option, oil capacity, whether the vehicle is 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive etc. We can be 100% accurate on our quotes if we have a VIN. We also use this to identify vehicles when we work on them, as in the photo above, many fleet vehicles are hard to tell apart, VIN’s are unique and never change (like license plates), so are therefore the best way to identify a vehicle.

Note: VIN numbers do not give us any information about the owner, only information about the vehicle.

That is perfectly OK, many of our clients operate this way. There are 2 ways we can handle this:

  1. Invoice– We will email you an invoice along with the service report, please note, this must be paid within 10 days.
  2. Card on File– We use a secure merchant service software that locks-up credit/debit card numbers. Once we enter them, no one in our company can see the entire card number ever again. We can only use the card to pay your invoices and you get notified every time.

As a bonus, since we don’t have to wait for a check to come in the mail, customers who place a card on file also get a 5% discount on all services.

We do not. However, many of the vehicles we service can be moved to a different time on our calendar, so we are happy to schedule you in one of those slots if you are in a bind.
